Why this is different

Ask whoever is advising you where they made this journey themselves.

It is a fair question, and a short conversation. Someone who has not been through it cannot tell you why your statement of purpose reads like a school essay, why a funded PhD is a research match rather than an application, or what a two-year home residency rule will mean for your family in six years.

We can, because we have lived it: the application, the funding fight, the visa interview, the first winter. And we have walked many other Ghanaians through the same ground since.

β€œThe difference between an application that gets funded and one that gets filed is almost never the grades. It is whether the person reading it can see exactly where you fit.”

The Ohene view

We say no

If your profile is not ready this cycle, we tell you, and tell you what to fix first.

You hold the file

Every account, password and document stays in your name. Always.

What you get

Four outcomes. Everything else is just the work behind them.

Degree admissions

An application that actually competes

Most rejections have nothing to do with your grades. We make sure yours is not one of them.

  • A school list you can realistically win, not a wish list
  • A statement that reads as a research argument, not a school essay
  • Recommenders who write something specific about you
  • Credentials evaluated correctly the first time
  • The December deadlines hit, where the funding actually is
Funding

A degree your family does not pay for

Nobody should be paying full international fees if they do not have to.

  • Tuition waived and a monthly stipend, on a US assistantship
  • The scholarships you can genuinely win, not the famous ones
  • A salaried PhD post in Scandinavia, if your profile fits
  • Germany at no tuition, if the paperwork is done properly
  • The true cost of living known before you commit, not after you land
Teachers

A US classroom, or a straight answer that it is not for you

Districts are genuinely short of maths, science and special education teachers. Most of the offers reaching your inbox are still fake.

  • Know inside twenty minutes whether you qualify
  • A sponsor you can verify yourself on the official list
  • The two-year rule settled before you accept, not after
  • An honest picture of what year five looks like

Research

Professors who reply

A funded doctorate is won on research fit, usually months before any portal opens.

  • Supervisors who are actually taking students this cycle
  • An email that gets answered instead of deleted
  • A proposal that survives a committee read
  • Your existing project work recognised as real research evidence

How research support works

Where you can study

Seven regions and two professional routes.

The right route is not the most famous one. It is where your grades, your field, your profession and your funding position actually line up.

Where the cycle is right now

The deadlines are the whole game.

Almost every application we see fail was not weak. It was late. The funded places close months before the unfunded ones, and by the time most people start looking, the money is already committed.

Here is what is closing next for the 2027 intakes. If one of these is yours, you are already inside the window where preparation has to start.

The method

What working with us actually looks like.

01

Profile review

Transcript, class, field, budget, timeline. We establish what is reachable this cycle, and say so plainly if the answer is not yet.

02

Destination & funding map

Two or three regions, a banded school list, and the specific funding instrument attached to each.

03

Documents built, not edited

Statement of purpose, academic CV, research proposal. Templates are why applications read the same and get rejected the same.

04

Recommenders & credentials

Who to ask, how to ask, what brief to give them. In parallel: WES or ECE evaluation, transcripts, English tests.

05

Outreach & submission

For research degrees, supervisor contact before the portal opens. Then every application reviewed line by line before you send.

06

Offer, funding letter, arrival

Comparing offers honestly, reading what your funding letter actually commits to, and preparing for the visa interview.

Who we work with

Four kinds of people walk through this door.

The final-year student

Good class, no idea how funding abroad works, eighteen months of runway. The best possible time to start.

The graduate, two or three years in

Working, saving, and looking for a masters that pays for itself rather than a loan that follows you home.

The teacher

Trained and licensed, with offers in your inbox you cannot verify. Most of them are not real.

The researcher

You want a funded PhD and professors are not replying. The email is the problem, and it is fixable.

Track record

Real people. Real outcomes.

Ohene Consult is the formal version of work its founder has been doing since 2022, largely for free, through WhatsApp groups and weekly coaching sessions. These numbers are his, and they are why this practice exists.

Admission + partial scholarship

“He helped me navigate my student visa application and find a partial scholarship I did not know existed. Before joining the community I was completely lost. Now I am studying at a US university and building the future I always imagined.”

A graduate student in Texas, from Ghana

Two offers, after 47 rejections

“I applied to 47 roles and heard nothing back. He rewrote my resume and coached me on how the US job market actually works for immigrant engineers. Three months later I had two offers. The mindset coaching was as valuable as the technical guidance.”

A software engineer in California

Visa approved, first attempt

“The visa preparation was thorough and clear. He walked me through every document, prepared me for every question, and gave me the confidence to walk into that interview knowing I was ready. First attempt. Approved.”

A registered nurse in New York

Quoted with permission and published anonymously at their request. Outcomes are individual and depend on the applicant's own record and on decisions made by universities and consular officers. We do not guarantee results.

Straight answers

The questions everyone asks first.

More detail sits on each destination page. Anything not covered here, ask it in the consult form.

Do you guarantee admission or a visa?

No, and neither can anyone else. Universities decide admission; consular officers decide visas. Any agency in Ghana promising a guaranteed visa is either lying or planning something you do not want your name on.

Are you a travel and tour agency?

No. We are an education advisory. We do not sell flights, tours or accommodation, we do not file immigration documents for you, and we do not give legal advice. You submit your own applications, in your own name.

Can I really study abroad without paying full tuition?

Routinely, at postgraduate level. A funded US assistantship waives tuition and pays a monthly stipend. German public universities charge no tuition. Chinese government scholarships often cover tuition, accommodation and living costs.

Undergraduate funding is far harder and far more competitive. We will not pretend otherwise.

How early should I start?

Twelve to eighteen months before your intake. Deadlines for the best-funded programmes fall between December and February, so a September start means serious work begins the previous autumn. Three months out is possible, but it removes most of your funding options.

What does it cost?

A profile review is $150 and is credited in full against anything you book afterwards. Application campaigns run from $3,500 to $6,000 across five schools, with the application fees included. Visa preparation on its own is $500.

Everything is paid in three instalments across the cycle. Full pricing is published here, because you should not have to ask.

What it costs

Published, so you never have to ask.

An agency can be paid by you, by the schools it places you with, or by both at once, and you rarely get told which. We take nothing from any school, sponsor or employer. You pay us, so we answer only to you.

Application fees are included in every campaign, and everything is paid in three instalments across the cycle.
